Explore the Authenticity of Preveza
Preveza is a picturesque town located in northwestern Greece, in the region of Epirus, right across the Ionian Islands. But unlike them, it remains largely unchanged by tourism. The seafront with its many cafes, restaurants and bars is crowded with locals and visitors in equal amounts.
Beaches and Marina
Preveza is known for its beautiful beaches, including the long sandy stretch of Monolithi Beach, which is popular among locals and tourists alike. The town also has a modern marina that attracts many sailing enthusiasts, offering facilities for yachts and boats.
Local Cuisine
Preveza is renowned for its fresh seafood, particularly its sardines and shrimp. The local tavernas and restaurants provide a delightful culinary experience. One of the town’s hotspots is the main port marina, featuring a variety of different restaurants and cafes to visit.
Cleopatra’s Downfall
Peaceful and calming today, the sea right in front of Kiani Akti was the exact site where the fate of Cleopatra was sealed. After battling Octavian’s fleet at this spot in 31 BC, Cleopatra and Mark Anthony were barely able to escape alive – for a few more months only. The signs of 2000 years of history are all around Preveza – from the site of Nikopolis, to Venetian- and Ottoman-era architecture in the old town.
